You'll know what's happening at every step. Here's how a heating call goes.
- ✓We listen to you first. You know your house better than we do. Tell us what you heard, what you smelled, when it started, and whether the thermostat has been fighting you.
- ✓We diagnose the system. Thermostat, filter, igniter or pilot, flame sensor, blower, ductwork, and the outdoor unit if you're on a heat pump. We test, we don't guess.
- ✓We run the heating safety checks. Gas connections, burner flame, heat exchanger, venting, and combustion. Those calls belong to the licensed technician standing in your home, and we will tell you plainly if something is not safe to run.
- ✓We give you written options. Good, better, and best, with what each one fixes and what it doesn't. You pick. We start work after you say yes.
Furnace repair Bakersfield homeowners call us about, and your options
Most winter calls come down to a handful of problems, and most of them are fixable.
Gas furnaces. The blower runs but the air is cold. The unit lights, burns for a minute, then shuts off and tries again. A dirty flame sensor stops the burners. A cracked or failing igniter means no heat at all. A clogged filter chokes airflow and makes the furnace overheat and shut itself down. Some of these are twenty-minute fixes. Some point at something bigger, and we'd rather show you than sell you.
Heat pumps. Plenty of Bakersfield homes heat with a heat pump instead of gas. When the outdoor unit ices over and stays iced, when the system leans on auxiliary heat all evening, or when it blows cool air in heating mode, we look at the reversing valve, the defrost control, the refrigerant charge, and the thermostat wiring.
Heater not working at all in Bakersfield? Before you call, check the thermostat batteries, the furnace switch on the wall next to the unit, and the breaker. If those are fine, that's our job.
Once we know the cause, your options usually look like this. Good: repair the failed part and get the heat back on tonight. Better: repair it and address the worn parts we found while we're already in there, so you're not calling us again in three weeks. Best: if the system is old and the repairs are stacking up, we'll price a replacement so you can decide on your own timeline instead of on the coldest night of the year.
The fall tune-up, and how the Comfort Club works
Furnaces sit unused from March to November, then get asked to run hard on the first cold evening. That's when the burning-dust smell shows up, and that's when weak parts quit. A fall tune-up catches the flame sensor, the igniter, the filter, and the safety controls before you need them.
